Serve: 6

Ingredients

Pizza base

2 cups Flour

¾ cup Lukewarm water

7g inactive Yeast

3-4 tbsp Olive oil

1 tbsp Sugar

Salt to taste

Pizza Sauce

1 tbsp Olive oil

1 cup Tomato puree

½ grated Onion

4 chopped Garlic cloves

2 tsp Sugar

Salt to taste

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp Onion powder

2 tsp dried Oregano

2 tsp dried Basil

7-8 Pepperoni Slices

4-5 ghost shaped Mozzarella slices

1-2 chopped Green Olives

Method

Step 1- Pizza Base

Add lukewarm water, sugar and yeast in a bowl and mix well. Place the bowl in a dark warm place like a microwave for 5-7 minutes or till yeast forms a frothy layer on top.

Step 2

Sift flour and salt in a large mixing bowl and create a well in the middle. Then add yeast water to the well, and with a fork, start mixing in the flour.

Step 3

Once all the dough sticks together, lightly flour the counter and transfer the dough. Start kneading the dough on the counter until it becomes soft and bouncy.

Step 4

Then lightly oil a bowl and transfer the dough to the bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rest for 1-2 hours or till the dough doubles in size.

Step 5- Pizza Sauce

Add olive to a saucepan and place on heat. Once hot, add grated onion and chopped garlic. Cook till the onions are slightly brown, then add tomatoes, salt, sugar, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder and onion powder.

Step 6

Mix well and place on medium-low heat. Cook for 10-15 minutes or till sauce reduces to half and starts to bubble. Then take off the heat and keep it aside to cool down.

Step 7- Assembly

Preheat the oven to 200℃ and line a baking tray with parchment. Lightly flour the surface and transfer the dough to it. Knead the dough for another 8-10 minutes. Then with your hands, stretch the dough evenly into the desired shape.

Step 8

Once the pizza base is shaped, transfer it to the baking sheet and, with a fork, poke the dough multiple times. Then add 2-3 tbsp of the pizza sauce and spread evenly across the surface.

Step 9

Add pepperoni slices and ghost-shaped mozzarella slices to the pizza. Then, using the chopped olives, create a face on the mozzarella slices, place the pizza in the oven, and bake for 15-17 minutes or till the edges turn lightly brown. Take the pizza out of the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes. Then cut it into slices and serve.

Tips

  1. When activating the yeast, make sure to check its expiry date.

  2. Ensure the water is at the right temperature; cold water won’t activate the yeast, and hot water will kill the yeast.

  3. Rest the dough till it doubles in size to get a soft fluffy pizza base.

  4. When the sauce is on heat, stir occasionally.

  5. The longer you cook the sauce, the better it tastes.

  6. Kneading the dough before stretching ensures better structure, don’t skip this step.

  7. While stretching the dough, make sure to apply light pressure.

  8. If your dough tears while stretching, just pinch it together.

  9. To shape the mozzarella slice like ghosts, draw a ghost on parchment paper and cut it out. Then place over the slices and crave out the shape.
