Hawaiian Burger

These Hawaiian burgers are stuffed with a juicy beef patty, a charred pineapple slice, cheese and a burger sauce that is handpicked for this beauty. The beef patty is seared on a hot pan and seasoned with jam-packed spices. The pineapple slice is seared in beef fat and the sauce compliments the flavours of the patty like no other. If you love a juicy beef burger, this is the perfect burger to try.

Serves: 4

Ingredients

Burger Patty

500g Minced Beef

1 Chopped Shallot

2 Tsp Garlic powder

2 Tsp Paprika

Salt to Taste

1 egg

¼ Cup + 2 Tbsp Bread Crumbs

2 Tsp Dried Basil

2 Tsp Worcestershire Sauce

Burger Sauce

7 Tbsp Barbecue Sauce

3 Tbsp Lemon Juice

1 Tbsp Horseradish Sauce

2 Tbsp Ketchup

4 Pineapple Slices

4 Cheese slices

4 Onion rings

4 Burger Buns

Fresh Rockets


Method

Step 1- Burger patty

Add beef, shallot, bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, paprika, salt, basil and Worcestershire sauce in a wide bowl and mix well. After mixing well, press the beef on the surface of the bowl and cover the bowl. Let the beef rest for 30 minutes to 3 hours in the refrigerator.


Step 2

Take the beef out of the refrigerator, take 3-4 Tbsp of meat, and roll it into a smooth ball. Place it on a flat surface and lightly press it down. Repeat till you have 8 patties. Then place in the freezer for 30 minutes.


Step 3

In a pan on medium heat, add 2 tsp butter; once all melted, add your patties 2 at a time.

Cook for 2-3 minutes per side. Then in the same pan, add your pineapples, and cook on medium heat for about 4 minutes per side or till they are a little charred.


Step 4 - Burger SauceAddd barbecue sauce, lemon juice, horseradish sauce,e and ketchup in a bowl. Mix well. Now in a clean pan, add a little butter and heat your buns for 2-3 minutes on medium heat or till they are golden brown.


Step 5- Assembly

Take the bottom half of your bun, add 1 Tbsp of burger sauce. Then add some fresh rocket and an onion slice.


Step 6

Then one patty, cheese slice with charred pineapple, and another patty finished with the burger sauce. Place the top half of the bun and serve with some fries.


Tips

  1. Don't skip marinating the beef as it enhances flavours.

  2. When cooking the patty, be vigilant as beef cooks really quick and it can become chewy.

  3. Try to char the pineapple in beef fat, it adds dimensions.
