Hot Chocolate Ice Cream

This hot chocolate ice cream is solely dedicated to all my fellow humans who live in the southern hemisphere. The blazing heat during the holiday season kills the will to make hot chocolate. Still, in order to keep the festive spirits alive, I have infused your thick, luscious hot cocoa and creamy chocolate ice cream together to create the perfect dessert! Eating this ice cream feels just like drinking hot chocolate. The hints of cinnamon and vanilla, the smooth ice cream and the perfect amount of chocolate set this ice cream apart from the rest!

Serves: 6

Ingredients

2 cups Heavy cream

1 cup+2 tbsp Condensed milk

¼ cup Cocoa powder

⅓ cup Chocolate (melted)

1 tsp Vanilla extract

1 tsp Cinnamon powder

½ tsp Nutmeg

Pinch of Salt

Method

Step 1

Place a glass container or loaf tin in the freezer along with a mixing bowl and beaters. Then add condensed milk, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, cinnamon powder, nutmeg, and salt to a bowl and whisk till smooth. Add the melted chocolate and 2 tbsp of condensed milk to another bowl.

Step 2

Place in microwave and heat for 45 seconds on high. Take the bowl of the bowl and mix the chocolate crumbs into a paste. Then add the crumbs to the rest of the ingredients and whisk till thoroughly combined.

Step 3

Add heavy cream to the mixing bowl and beat the cream with a hand beater on medium. Fold in the chocolate filling gently till no streaks. Transfer the ice cream batter to the cold container and seal it tightly.

Step 4

Once the ice cream sets, scoop the ice cream with a warm ice cream scooper. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder and serve with some s'mores.

Tips

  1. Placing the container, mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer helps set the cream faster.

  2. Use a glass container with a lid or a loaf tin to set the ice cream.

  3. If using a loaf tin, cling wrap it at least 3-4 times before placing it in the freezer.

  4. Make sure to keep checking for stiff peak while beating the whipped cream,

  5. When mixing the chocolate filling with the whipped cream, make sure not to deflate the cream. Fold gently and slowly.

  6. Ice cream takes 12 hours to set, so make it ahead of time.
