The infamous cheeseburger that gets your mouth watering by the sight of it. Juicy beef patties covered in smoked cheddar and dripped in burger sauce. These burgers are easy to make and worth the effort. Born in 1924, it's still the go-to burger for so many people worldwide. This recipe delivers all on the checklist of an OG burger. Ingredients
Beef Patty
500g minced Beef
1 tbsp Onion powder
½ tbsp Garlic powder
Salt to taste
2 tsp Pepper
Burger Sauce
¼ cup Mayonnaise
2 tbsp Mustard
1 tbsp Burger sauce
3-4 drops Tabasco
1 tbsp Tomato relish
3 Onion slices
6 Tomato slices
6 Pickles
3 Lettuces slices
3 Buns
6 smoked Cheddar cheese slices
Method
Step 1- Marination
Add the minced beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper to a bowl. Mix in well. Then place the bowl in the refrigerator for 1 hour or overnight.
Step 2
Then take ¼ cup of marinated beef and fold it into patties—place in a tray lined with parchment paper and keep in the freezer for an hour.
Step 3 - Patty
Lightly grease a pan with oil. Place on medium heat; once hot, add the beef patties—Cook for 4 minutes on each side or till cooked through while flattening the patty with a spatula.
Step 4
Now cut the buns in halves. Then toast the buns in beef grease for 1-2 minutes on medium-high heat.
Step 5 - Sauce
Add mayonnaise, mustard, burger sauce, tabasco, and tomato relish in a bowl. Mix well.
Step 6
Now place your patties and cheese slices in a stake alternating in order on a pan. Place on low heat, sprinkle some water and cover the pan for 2-3 minutes or till the cheese melts.
Step 7- Assembly
Now take your toasted bun, spread the sauce, and place a lettuce slice and a stake of patties. Then add onion slices, tomato slices and pickles. Place the other bun on top and serve.
Tips
Marinating the beef enhances flavour, don't skip this step.
Don't forget to freeze your patties. Freezing the patties strengthens the structures so they don't fall apart while cooking.
Don't apply a lot of oil to the pan before cooking the patties.
Try not to overcook the patties; make sure to time your patties if you have a cooking thermometer, and then the reading should be 71°C.
While melting cheese, make sure to add enough water to generate steam.
